About the nuclear medicine unit

Nuclear medicine is an advanced technology that examines the function of the organs in order to detect diseases. The information obtained is different but complementary to that provided by radiological investigations (medical imaging). This specialty is very useful in the domains of cancer, cardiology, orthopedics, urology or pneumology.

These studies can be performed on patients of all ages: from the newborn to the very elderly. These techniques may be carried out in conjunction with functional tests of the organs. If have any questions concerning the series of tests which you are undergoing, do not hesitate to ask.

Equipment

The Department  has 3 gamma cameras including one hybrid SPECT CT-camera, 2 densitometers and a positron emission tomography (PET scan).
