About the Pelvis Clinic

Text

Patients suffering from urinary incontinence or a bladder prolapse can visit gynaecology and urology services for a combined uro-gynaecological consultation under the umbrella of the “pelvic clinic” or “pelvic floor clinic”.

Complaints such as involuntary urination and/or bladder prolapse are extremely common. Indeed, they are experienced by some 35% of women aged between 50 and 75. Yet few dare to consult their doctor. Wrongly so, as these complaints have a major impact on their quality of life. Although not life-threatening, such complaints cause considerable problems for those affected, including social isolation, vaginal discomfort and chronic infections. Fortunately, there is usually a solution.

During your consultation, you will meet both a urologist and a gynaecologist, with or without a referral from your GP. We believe that a multidisciplinary approach is the best way to tackle your complaint.

We begin by identifying the exact nature and cause of your problem. After all, this is key to ensuring an effective solution. We subsequently propose a suitable treatment according to the precise nature of the problem. Medication, potentially in combination with physiotherapy, is often the preferred solution. If necessary, surgery may also be recommended.
